The idea is to be able to have all the functionality of a modern midi-controller/stage piano but with the look and feel of a classic piano.
Second hand Pianos can be cheap these days due to the lack of portability
and the high maintenance they require.
The solution is to have a modern electronic solution in a shaped enclosure.
The plan is to have these fit the majority of popular midi cxontrollers and weighted keyboards but for the initial prototype the Yamaha 125 was chosen for its versatility and expandability .
also it has the additional functionality of a break out pedal box with all three traditional type pedals so it made an excellent choice to start with.
the width of the piano kit proto-type is also slightly less than a traditional upright due to the space in my living room being specific and me not wanting to remove a radiator or two.
It’s jut in the final stages now having had an initial few coats of paint and then been broken back down for finishing and transport for Christmas.
the stencils will be painted and gilded in gold leaf as a one off and will also be rubbed back (including the whole unit) to give a ‘shabby-chic’ look … in theory.
